Janelle Clifton has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy and has worked as an occupational therapist for over 20 years. Using a family-centered approach, she has assisted many children to overcome challenges in participating in self care, play and school work. This approach sees the parents as the experts on their child and works with the parents to find solutions that best suit their child’s need within their individual family setting.
She has worked in the WA Country Health Service (WACHS), with the Telethon Kids Institute and as a private practitioner. While at WACHS – Pilbara, Janelle worked as the Senior Occupational Therapist and was responsible for a variety of services to children and adults with a range of intellectual and physical disabilities. While working here she received training in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and, later while working for the Telethon Kids Institute, she received specific training in The Alert Program for Self Regulation ®.
Janelle has recently qualified to be a registered Kids Yoga Instructor and in 2021 she gained qualifications in providing Complex Home Modification for the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Janelle’s passions include equipment provision for people with physical disabilities and working with multidisciplinary teams to provide the most coordinated and effective interventions for people in her care. She practices yoga almost daily and loves the outdoors, gardening and especially camping.
