What is Exercise Physiology?

Exercise physiology is an allied health discipline that uses movement and exercise as a form of evidence-based therapy. Patches Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are university-qualified professionals accredited by Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA), with the expertise to design, deliver, and adapt safe and effective exercise interventions. They support individuals across all ages to enhance health, improve function, aid recovery, and promote independence and participation in everyday activities.

How we can help with movement-based support

Chronic Pain Management

Our exercise physiologists use targeted movement programs to help individuals manage persistent pain. By focusing on strength, flexibility, and graded activity, we support clients to reduce discomfort, build confidence in movement, and improve overall quality of life—all while working closely with our multidisciplinary team.

Independence and Daily Functioning

Whether recovering from a sports injury, surgery, or physical trauma, our EPs tailor rehabilitation programs to restore mobility, function, and strength. We guide clients through safe, structured progressions that support healing, prevent further injury, and promote a return to daily activities.

Assistive Technology

Our exercise physiology services help individuals improve body awareness, emotional regulation, and sensory integration through structured movement. These strategies can support focus, reduce stress, and assist with managing energy levels—especially for those with neurodevelopmental conditions or sensory processing differences.
